This study examined the social support in families who were raising children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A total of 172 caregivers parenting a child with ASD from Sichuan province in China were investigated by the Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS). Results indicated that the caregivers had low levels of social support and its sub-domains, including subjective support, objective support, and utilization of support. Caregivers' marital status, educational level, employment status, place of residence, family income, income and expenditure situation, and children's severity level of autism were significantly associated with how families perceived their social support.
